Our Veterinarians

Dr. David Galewsky, DVM

Veterinarian/Owner

David Galewsky puchased Hondo Veterinary Hospital in 2016. He graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. He worked in Marble Falls for three and a half years before coming to Hondo. He enjoys everything about mixed animal practice, from cats to bulls. He has a beautiful wife named Maggie and two crazy boys, Wyatt and Lyle. In his free time he enjoys running and spending time with his family at his parents ranch. He has two dogs, two horses, and a bunch of Angus cattle.

Dr. Katya Sczepanik, MS, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Katya Sczepanik received her B.S. degree in Animal Science (minor: Chemistry) from Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) in Nacogdoches, TX. She later received a M.S. degree from the same place that focused on forage quality/nutrition in beef cattle. She received her D.V.M. degree from Mississippi State University in 2016. Her special interests include beef cattle medicine and surgery and herd health management, but she thoroughly enjoys rural mixed animal practice and working with small animals too. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting (doves and deer), working with livestock/ranching, shooting skeet, playing with her dogs, working out, singing, or visiting with friends and family.

Dr. Glen Riff, DVM

Relief Veterinarian

Dr. Riff is the fifth generation of his family to live and work in the Hondo-Castroville area. He has been involved with Hondo Veterinary Hospital since his graduation from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. During that time he has seen the practice change from a primarily ranch call oriented large animal practice to what today is mostly a Small Animal practice. Outside of the clinic he enjoys spending time with his 7 grandchildren.

Dr. Stephen M. Sells, DVM

Relief Veterinarian

Dr. Sells is a native of Central Texas; he received his first B.S. degree from Sul Ross State University in Range Animal Science in 1976. He received a second B.S. Degree in Veterinary Science in 1978 and his D.V.M. from Texas A & M Univeristy in 1980. He has been married to his wife Carolyn for 30 years and they have 4 children. Dr. Sells practiced in Burnet, Texas for two years before settling in Bandera in 1982. He was a mixed practice owner for 20 years before finally limiting his practice to primarily equine and exotic wildlife. His personal interests include ranching, hunting and restoring vintage motorcycles and trucks.

Alanna Skipper

Practice Manager, Certified Veterinary Assistant

Alanna grew up in the Texas Hill Country, graduating from Boerne High School in 1995. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Sul Ross State University majoring in Equine Science and Animal Health. She joined the Hondo Veterinary team in March 2010 as a large and small animal Technician. She recently received her CVA level II certification in October 2014. Alanna enjoys spending time with her husband Floyd “Skip” and their daughter Cheyenne. Some of her hobbies include reading, riding horses, hunting, and fishing. Her household is busy with four cats, four dogs, and five horses.

Heather Curtsinger

Head Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Heather joined the Hondo Veterinary team as a technician in July 2015. She went to tech school at St. Petersburg College, and graduated as a licensed veterinary technician in 2007. She really enjoys working with critical and hospitalized patients ,as well as assisting in surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys sketching, painting, and Geocaching with her fiancé and her pups.

Adriana Sandoval

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Adriana joined the Hondo Veterinary team as a kennel technician in August of 2012. She became a technician in the Summer of 2014. She earned her CVA level lII certification in June 2017. She enjoys assisting with dental cleanings and caring for hospitalized patients. She married her husband, Sabastian, in March of 2015.

Maria Gonzalez

Veterinary Assistant

Maria joined the Hondo Veterinary team in March of 2015. She is currently working on her CVA level I certification. She enjoys working with large and small animals. She got engaged in 2014 to her fiancé Josh. Some of her hobbies include: cooking, horseback riding, fishing, and running.

Anne Marie Duran

Veterinary Assistant

Anne Marie graduated from Hondo High School in 2012. She is currently pursuing her Licensed Veterinary Technician degree from Palo Alto College. She joined Hondo Veterinary Hospital in 2011 as a kennel technician and moved up to vet tech in 2014. Anne Marie is a Hondo Native, and lives with her two dogs Lola (Chihuahua), and Charlie (Lab mix). Anne Marie has an adorable son named Caden, and boyfriend John. She enjoys assisting in surgeries, puppy exams, and geriatric exams. In her free time she likes to fish, read, and spend time with her 2 year old son.

Cearra Zapata

Veterinary Assistant

Cearra has been a technician with Hondo Veterinary Hospital since August 2016. She graduated from Jack C. Hays High School, and has a Pharmacy Technician degree from Allied Heath Careers. Cearra was born in Hondo, and raised in Austin. Her favorite parts of her job are puppy and kitten exams, and assisting in surgeries. Cearra lives with her two cats Binx and Dre, and her fiancé Manny, and enjoys baking, fishing, playing disc golf and going to concerts in her free time.

Chloé Angermiller

Certified Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Technician

Chloe joined the Hondo Veterinary team in 2011. She is a senior in high school, and she has just earned her CVA Level l through the 4-H and Texas A & M veterinary science Program in 2014, and is currently studying for CVA Level ll. She is also a dance assistant teacher. In her spare time she loves to read, dance, and ride horses. She thanks God every day for being with her through the ups and downs, and for helping her to get where she is today.

Shae Haby

Shae Haby

Kennel Technician

Shae recently joined the Hondo Veterinary Hospital team in January 2017 as a Kennel Technician. She graduated from Sabinal High School, then went on to attend McMurry University and SWTJC. Shae enjoys giving baths and walking dogs. She lives with her poodle mix Charlie, and likes to read, go on walks, watch TV, and shop in her free time.

Cindi Kriewald

Receptionist

Cindi joined the Hondo Veterinary team in July of 2004. She enjoys visiting with clients , and their furry families. She has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. When she is away from the clinic she enjoys crocheting, collecting cactus, and riding with her Harley motorcycle club.
